Proposal Engineer
Key Responsibilities
- Manage tendering aspects of a large scale, complex, or significant engineering project, to ensure correct estimation for schedule and budget.
- Estimate of labour, material costs of manufacturing and engineering based on request for proposal (RFQ) data submitted by prospective customers and business/channel partners.
- Analyse specifications, including sketches, blueprints, bill of material, or sample layouts and calculate production cost using labour and material pricing schedules and historical data.
- Study the Invitation to Bid (ITB) for the project and report the summary of contents and requirements and prepare necessary data and information such as index of ‘documents to be submitted’ in most timely manner.
- Prepare or check correspondences in connection with the proposal to the Customers and Business/Channel Partners.
- Collaborate with vendors, potential clients and internal project leads to provide correct tender price to ensure successful implementation of projects within budget.
- Liaise with other operational areas in the organization (e.g. sales, design, detail) to secure specialized resources and contribution for the project tender process.
- Assist to develop proposal strategy, procedures and documents, and maintain the records for future project references.
- Perform, other than all the above, whatever duties entrusted by the Sales Manager in respect of the proposal related activities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or Quantity Surveying (QS).
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in in reviewing bid documenta and making technical proposals; preferably in one or more of the following environments:
- Structural engineering consultant firms
- Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) manufacturers, structural steel fabrication companies, or design-build contractors
- Industrial building product suppliers (e.g., roofing systems, wall panels, insulation, and cladding systems related to steel buildings)
- Extensive knowledge of products, designs, manufacturing, and erection processes and procedures
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is a MUST.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and technical reporting skills in English and the local language.
- A self-motivated, analytical, and results-driven individual with strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
